# AMKT Benchmark Creation Process

## DAO Asset Inclusion Process

The AMKT asset inclusion process is composed of 3 stages, where each step is dependent on the previous;

[step-1-amkt-asset-universe](https://docs.amktdao.com/old-amkt-documentation/governance/amkt-dao-working-constitution/amkt-benchmark-creation-process/step-1-amkt-asset-universe "mention") - AMKT Token holders and Stewards work together to narrow the set of all crypto assets to those with thematic fit.
2. [step-2-amkt-benchmark-creation](https://docs.amktdao.com/old-amkt-documentation/governance/amkt-dao-working-constitution/amkt-benchmark-creation-process/step-2-amkt-benchmark-creation "mention") - AMKT Stewards decide on methods for additionally filtering assets and describing how to calculate the **AMKT Index**.
3. [benchmark-implementation](https://docs.amktdao.com/old-amkt-documentation/amkt-token/benchmark-implementation "mention") - The final step in determining which assets are earmarked for custody and inclusion in the index happens at the **implementation** stage. Service Providers use the [amkt-benchmark-methodology](https://docs.amktdao.com/old-amkt-documentation/governance/amkt-benchmark-methodology "mention") guidelines and the assets from the **Index Implementation** stage to construct the final methodology.

AMKT holders can propose and vote on the inclusion of new assets which they believe fall under AMKT's thematic fit as a broad-based crypto market index, however **a successful DAO vote for inclusion in the AMKT Asset Universe does not guarantee inclusion in the index.**
